Hurry up I’ve got PLAICES to be! This cheeky fish was caught hitching a ride on a whale’s tail.
The brazen fish hopped onto the tail of an unsuspecting whale as it made its way through a stretch of water in Doha, Qatar.
The extraordinary moment was caught on camera by photographer, Moutaz M Fino.
The 47-year-old IT worker was shocked when he spotted the idle suckerfish taking advantage of the huge blue whale.
He said: “The whale was quite close to me and it made me realise how huge they are and how tiny and weak people are in comparison.
Maxim said: “Whilst here, I saw whale sharks, fish swallows, fish hedgehog and turtles.
“I wasn’t scared when I saw the whale shark as they are nice and kind.
“And despite it being massive, it was not the largest specimen – but in this proximity it was very impressive.
“As for the fish on whale tail – I saw it at once through my telephoto lens – though I didn’t understand what it was straight away.
“It was so funny that this huge animal was actually used by a small fish and couldn’t do anything about it.”
