It’s clearly not this cormorant’s PLUCKY DAY as he fails to catch giant fish three times during impressive deep-sea dives in amusing footage.
After descending from the water’s surface, the greedy fishing bird frantically flapped under the water trying to catch prey almost as large as itself to no avail.
Stefano Ulivi, 42, captured the entertaining encounter last year in the waters surrounding Baja California, Mexico, as the bird desperately tried to grab a bite to eat.
Following several attempts by the hapless cormorant who aimlessly chases the large fish without any success, the beaten-down bird swims to the ocean floor in search of food there that can’t get away as quickly.
Stefano, a videographer from Florence, Italy, said: “I was diving with friends and we were curious to watch the group of fish in front of us.
“At a certain point we saw this huge group open up and in the middle of them the bird, under the water, trying to catch some prey.
“After the big group he tried to find some food exploring the sand and by coming closer to us.
“Poor and unlucky guy, if we find it difficult to find and catch fish because they disappear so quickly, you can imagine how hard it is for a little bird like a cormorant.
“He found the group of fishes and was trying to catch them, but they were too big and too fast for him.
“After half an hour attempting to catch them he gave up and decided it was easier to find little seafood under the sand.
“Trying to catch more fish is possible for them but it was too difficult for this cormorant.
“I was super lucky specially when the cormorant went so close to the camera when he trying to find seafood under the sand.”
