This is the hilarious moment Father Christmas was forced to admit he couldn’t stop to give presents to kids because ‘his clutch had gone’.
In the funny footage Santa’s sleigh is being towed by a car but instead of stopping for milk and cookies, the jolly fellow is forced to shout ‘Merry Christmas! I can’t stop, my clutch has gone’.
The embarrassing blunder, filmed by 33-year-old Jennie Williams from her window in Warrington, Cheshire, on Tuesday (DEC 12) night must have left Father Christmas as red-faced as his suit.
Accountant Jennie said: “It was so funny, especially as he was saying it in such a broad northern accent.
“The kids lining the street didn’t seem too disappointed as he was still carrying on and waving at them all.
“Fair play to him for carrying on. He could have just given up and let the street down but he didn’t.
“I could hear the music from the other end of the street. I always get excited when he comes. When I listened to what he was saying I thought it sounded strange.
“Then I realised he was saying his clutch had gone, it’s not something you would expect Santa to say really.”
The charity Santa flew down Jennie’s street but is believed to be coming back again now he’s got his clutch fixed.
Every year when the Santa gets towed down the road, Jennie rushes to the window as it reminds her of the magical Christmases from her childhood.
Jennie said: “He is coming back actually to do the street again to make up for it. I’m sure a local garage fixed the car for them as they do it all for charity.
“I was quite lucky to catch him talking about his clutch as the music went off. You couldn’t quite make it out with the Christmas music over it.
“I remember Santa coming down my street when I was younger. My mum and dad used to help out and go and collect money with them.
“I love it when he comes round. It’s cheesy but this what Christmas is all about.
“I don’t have children but my niece and nephew are going to come and see him when he comes back round tonight.”
