This man is so good with words – that he can sing the entirety of ‘Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer’ backwards, and this video proves it!
John Sevier Austin was just 17-years-old when he started singing backwards and now can sing an array of classic songs backwards.
Having hundreds of people listening to his songs online, John’s talent has not gone unnoticed.
This footage shows John singing the classic Christmas song, Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer, backwards – which has been edited to come across as the original.
Despite being an almost flawless rendition of the song, it took John two weeks to memorise and perform the backwards song.
John, from Charlotte, NC, said: “I was able to sing it through the second time, but that was looking at the lyrics.
“I was practising a few times a day for a couple of weeks whilst I was driving to and from work.
“I have been speaking backwards since I was 17 – after learning how to play cassette tapes backwards I realised I was able to reverse my own voice too.
“I was always amazed that sound could be altered so easily, but I did not think I was that special for being able to learn words backwards.
“I thought that playing songs backwards was just like making up my own version of music I liked.”
