This grooving grandma proves you’re never too old to bust a move, as she throws down some serious moves on the dance floor during a resident’s disco.
Beginning with a tentative sway from side-to-side, 87-year-old Jean Hupp, from Decatur, Illinois, proves to be quite the mover, taking center stage on the dancefloor during a birthday party at her assisted living community, Eagle Ridge of Decatur.
Dancing to Marcia Griffiths’ ‘Electric Slide’, rowdy resident Jean decided to add a charge of her own to the instructor’s choreography, in search of something truer to her vibrant character.
Having been a dancer all of her life, Jean’s tidy toe-taps soon erupt into a joyous jive, with the grandmother swinging her arms side to side in perfect synchronization to her feet and the beat.
Throwing in an Elvis leg-shake for good measure, Jean beams throughout the entirety of her improvised routine, proving that she’s still got it – even eight decades after her affinity for performing first began.
Resident service coordinator Sarah Butts, who has worked closely with Jean during her three years at Eagle Ridge of Decatur, said: “Mrs. Hupp loves to dance; she has been dancing her whole life.
“Whether it be tap or square dancing, she did it – she even used to sing, too.
“This is so Jean – she is always the life and soul of the party.
“She loves to keep moving her body and mind, she says it helps to keep her young.
“We all absolutely loved seeing her and the other residents enjoying themselves. It’s so rewarding.
“Jean and her husband, Paul, have been living with us for three years now.
“Everybody is so excited about the video’s reception; the ladies are loving the extra attention.”
