A young boy was given a magical surprise on his trip to Disney World, when his step-dad gave him the news that he was adopting him.
Ten year old John Marcus Patterson is happily chatting to Jack and Sally with his sister Ellora, 9, characters from his favourite film The Nightmare before Christmas, when his mum hands him a badge to read out.
He then finds out from the badge that his stepdad is adopting him, and that he will have the same last name as the rest of his family.
John Marcus then starts to cry, clearly overjoyed with the news.
Ryan Patterson, from Brantford, Ontario, Canada, filmed the video of his stepson’s reaction after planning the special moment.
Ryan said: “John Marcus mentioned to us that he really wanted to be a Patterson, as his last name was Costa and he felt left out.
“I’ve known him since he was three when I met my wife -his mother- Jenny, and even though he called me dad from very early on, it wasn’t official with his name and court documents.
“We thought it would be a magical idea to surprise him during our Disney trip, and we decided to do it with Jack and Sally as they’re from his favourite film The Nightmare before Christmas.
“As it was happening every person in the line and all of the cast members were crying, and even Sally was having a hard time keeping it together.
“It was definitely one of the best moments of our lives, and the best day ever according to John Marcus.”
