A DAD-of-two has amassed a huge collection of more than 7,000 licence plates from 150 countries around the world.
Married Andrew Pang has spent 40 years finding and buying the sheets of metal which now cover the walls of his home.
The accountant, 47, started his unusual hobby after receiving one as a gift from his childhood pal.
By the age of 12 he had got his hands on a plate from all 50 states in America.
He even owns the licence plate used by Richard Nixon during his presidency.
Andrew, from Virginia, United States, said: “When I was seven-years-old I had a neighbour who would visit his family in Louisiana.
“I asked him to bring me back something as a souvenir. He bought me a licence plate from his granddad’s car dealership. That’s how it all began.
“Even as a kid I was interested in geography. At first I collected stamps. But I thought licence plates were something different. I didn’t know anyone at the time who collected them.
“The word got out and family would get them for me. I had an aunt in South Dakota who sent me one. Another aunt in Toronto sent me one too.
“Before the internet I would mainly find them in flea markets and antiques shops.
“In 1982 I was flabbergasted to find out about the The Automobile License Plate Collectors Association. I made contact with them and it connected me to 1,000 members.
“I keep the majority of the plates in my garage. I also have them in my basement and on shelving around my home.
“The first one I was ever given holds a special place in my heart. I keep that in a fire proof box along with my other most treasured possessions.
“I also have one used by Richard Nixon when he was president. That was my first rare find and probably has the most history attached to it out of all the ones I own.
“There is no real price guide when it comes to the license plates. We are not as established as some.
“I am still looking to extend the collection. The growth has slowed a bit but anytime we go somewhere new I am always on the look out.
“I have plates from well over 150 countries all around the world.”
