Tim Luke, Executive Director Street & Contemporary Art from Julien’s Auctions, said: “This auction of Street, Contemporary & Celebrity art offers an eclectic diversity of artists, mediums, subject matters and price points making it an ideal auction for beginners and seasoned collectors alike.
“The sale also combines recognized names like Banksy, Mr. Brainwash, Invader, Shepard Fairey, Warhol, Haring and Katz with other artists like Al-Baseer Holly (ABH), Sonic Bad, Rene Gagnon and Jason Ostro.
“The Michael Jackson Andy Warhol lot is a stand out for me because of the iconic artist and subject matter.
“Pieces of this magnitude, authenticated by the stamp on the verso by the AndyWarhol Foundation combined with the fact, piece from this series do not come up on the market very often, make it a unique and desirable addition to a collection.
“The Banksy pieces are diverse and there are two stand out pieces for me.
“First, the Di-faced Tenners uncut sheet from 2004 done in pink and unique to find – there were only 32 made, it is signed by Banksy and comes with a certificate form Pest Control.
“The other piece is the Diverted Traffic sign, a piece from the street, not a commercial creation, with a fantastic provenance.
“Pest Control does not provide certificates for street pieces. The street sign was part of a highly successful street art exhibition in Australia and we are thrilled to have the piece on the cover of our auction catalog.
“The Trump drawing was acquired by our client in the 1990s at an art festival in Palm Beach County, FL
“The significance with the Empire StateBuilding is Mr. Trump unsuccessfully attempted to purchase the building but ended up helping negotiate the sale of the building he could see prominently from Trump Towers in New York City.
“Also, a portion of the proceeds will benefit the smallest NPR radio station in the country, WHDD in Sharon , CT.
“In the Celebrity Art section of the sale, we are featuring the celebrity photographer, Timothy White and his photographer’s proof of Elizabeth Taylor “flipping off” the camera with both hands and smiling.
“This captures a side of Ms. Taylor the public rarely encountered and is a favorite to all who encounter the piece.”
The exhibition begins Monday, October 16, 2017 in Los Angles, CA and the Sale will take place October 19, 2017 at 2pm and 7:30pm pacific time.
