This nimble-fingered animal lover managed to save a turtle that had become wrapped up in fishing nets.
The little creature had got stuck on the Samandag beach in Hatay, Turkey, and could not move anymore as wire was tightly wound around its neck and fins.
However, a passer-by spotted the stranded animal in the dark and worked quickly to unravel the wire and free it.
The turtle was saved by economics engineer Gürkan Gulsen.
Gürkan, 23, said: “I was trying to save the turtle from the litter. A fishing net had become wrapped around its neck.
“Despite the net being quite tight I managed to get it loose and the turtle survived.
“I have had lots of kind messages telling me I did a good thing. It seemed like the right thing to do.”
