This CrossFit athlete had a lucky near miss as she toppled over holiday a 75kg barbell above her head.
While working out her at friend’s gym CrossFit Tried & True in Montoursville, Pennsylvania, USA, Rachel Kenney tried to snatch a personal best 165lbs.
In a flash, Rachel shoots the weight over her head while in a squat position before trying to stand up straight on August 5.
Standing upright, the two-year CrossFit veteran suddenly begins to lose balance and falls over backwards quickly followed by the barbell whose plates fall mere inches away from her chest.
Rachel said: “It looks worse than it was but it was the most freak accident I’ve ever had.
“It was scary but it’s a little funny now knowing I’m not hurt.
“The wind was knocked out of me but I just laughed a little and told everyone I needed a minute to make sure I didn’t break anything.
“I had a few bumps and bruises but nothing crazy at all.
“This was the heaviest I’ve gone for but before I had hit 155lbs and 160lbs.
“I tried bailing the way I always do but my body basically crumbled and went with the bar.”
