Shane Pointon, 44, has spent the past 11 years struggling to cope with the loss of his stillborn son, Jay Lee.

But his wife, Sharon, 46, decided to order him the ultimate gift – a doll replica of the baby he lost.

Sharon decided to film the moment Shane opened the box containing the reborn doll and was overwhelmed by his reaction.

He can be seen breaking down in tears as he unwraps the reborn doll and sees its blonde hair.

Shane from, Adelaide, South Australia, has since found it easier to hope with his loss thanks to his memorial reborn doll.

Shane, a filter technician, said: “Losing Jay Lee was the worst thing that has ever happened to me.

“I have never been able to move forward with my life without thinking about the day we lost him.

“When Sharon said she had bought me a reborn doll I was over the moon,

“I was unwrapping the box and it wasn’t until I saw the dolls blond hair that it all hit me at once.

“I instantly began crying, I couldn’t believe I finally had my own baby to care for.

“I was amazed at how life-like the doll looked, and the blonde hair was the most emotional part.

“I love being able to pick his outfits, and be able to brush his beautiful blonde hair and just be able to see him sat in the bassinet.”

Sharon decided to buy Shane a reborn doll after she purchased her own, in memory of her stillborn daughter.

She realised just how much the doll comforted her, and helped her cope with her loss of her daughter, and thought that this may be something that Shane would benefit from also.

Sharon said: “Shane was never allowed to grieve for his son, he only ever held him for a few minutes.

“When he got home from work we did the box opening, seeing a little bundled up boy made him cry.

“Once he saw bub’s blonde hair, the emotions took over.

“Shane had watched the process of me finding my reborn daughter, and purchasing the items that I never got to buy for my own baby.

“He loved the way that I bonded with the ‘doll’ and how she comforted me, and filled a void that I had.

“One day he asked if we could get a boy, in honour of his son.

“Being a blonde baby himself, myself and Shane started looking for blonde reborns.

“After much searching, Shane had hundreds to look at, and finally chose one.

“As you can see, when he arrived he couldn’t have been happier.”
