Children are notorious for running off and this naughty bear cub is no different – hiding in a tall tree behind its mum.
The puzzled mummy bear was left looking for her little one after photographer, Cody Needham, accidentally startled the cub and sent it running up a tree.
The un-BEAR-ably cute snaps were taken by Cody during a trip to Sequoia National Park in the Sierra Nevada mountain range of California.
The 28-year-old said: “My friend, Jordan, and myself were hiking a trail called Alta Peak.
“It started to snow heavily about a mile from the peak so we turned around and headed back down the mountain.
“When we got to the parking lot the mother bear and her cub ran across the street, I assume the snow had forced them off the mountain as well.
“My friend pulled over and I walked to the edge of the road and saw the mother and cub about 50 yards away.
“I walked a few yards off the road in their direction taking pictures, as I went and the sound of sticks breaking startled the cub and up the tree he went.
“It happened so fast I was afraid my camera settings weren’t going to capture the moment in clarity but a few good photos made the cut.
“I saw the cub on the ground following the mother so when the cub perched itself on the branch looking down at his mother I knew it was a once in a lifetime shot.”
