The planes soared above Miami Beach during the Memorial Day air show and the shot was captured by Jim Winters, 53, from the rooftop of an 18 story building.

The clear blue sky acted as a perfect backdrop for onlookers as they watched the jets carry out stunts over head, and they whizzed passed close to the speed of sound.

Jim, from Miami, Florida, said: “This photo is a great visual illusion, the jets are in fact a few feet away from each other and it’s all down to the perspective.

“Gaining access to rooftops isn’t easy and most are dangerous so it takes planning months in advance, and usually involves a lot of sweet talking.

“There are a million little details that all add up to capturing that killer image, it’s hard work, enjoyable, but definitely work.”
