A mum caught the hilarious moment her four-year-old son battles to stay awake long enough to finish his favourite ice lolly – repeatedly nodding off even while his tongue is stuck out.

Jennifer Rinehart Myers, 32, says that little Jacob had earned the ‘push-up’-style lolly after wearing himself out by running around in the sun all day last Sunday [June 4].

However when he came to eat it while curled up on the family sofa, Jacob was so tired that he was unable to keep his eyes open though continued to eat the sweet treat despite being half-asleep.

Unable to resist the opportunity to catch it on camera, Jennifer filmed Jacob sleeping with his tongue stuck out, repeatedly dropping the lolly every few seconds and even licking the packaging instead of the ‘push up’ centre.

Jennifer, from Beckley West Virginia, US, said: “It was so funny, he was exhausted.

“He’d had a hard day, he had been out playing in the sun all day, running through the sprinklers.

“I eventually had to take it off him, it started to drip everywhere, including all down his front and on the couch.

“It started to make him all sticky and the couch was starting to suffer so we had to take the push up away from him.

“It’s a shame he didn’t get to finish it but he was so tired.”

Jacob lives with his mum Jennifer and dad, Heath Myers, 32, older brother Paxton, six, and six-month-old little brother Zayne.

Big brother Paxton is also a huge fan of the push-up lolly but his younger sibling hasn’t been introduced to them just yet.

Jennifer said: “Jacob loves push-ups, they’re his favourite, my mum had been babysitting and she always gives Jacob and Paxton them as a little treat.

“Zayne hasn’t been introduced to them just yet, but I’m sure he’ll love them too.”
