This mother was given the surprise of a lifetime when her partner got down on one knee in front of their families during a ‘welcome home’ party for their new-born son.
Danni Staats arrived home from hospital on January 27th, with her partner of eight years, Trever, after giving birth to their first child, Kai, just two days before.
The couple, from St. Lucie, Florida, USA, had asked family members to gather at their home to welcome their newest edition and in anticipation of their reactions, Danni films them.
After Trevor’s emotive monologue, declaring he loves his girlfriend ‘more than anything’, the first-time mum is greeted by her whole family holding up a sign with the words ‘Will you marry me’.
Danni said: “It was amazing, I honestly had no idea.
“I was expecting a few people to be coming around, but certainly not our whole family.
“I was filming in an attempt to capture everyone’s first reactions of seeing Kai.
“I never anticipated Trever getting down on one knee, with all my family being in on it.
“It was the second-best moment of my life, second only to having Kai of course.”
When Danni was in labour, Trever secretly told the rest of her family his plans to propose and they were all too happy to play their part.
Following a few moments of disbelief and holding her hand over her mouth overwhelmed with emotion, Danni says ‘yes’ and cheers echo around the room as they embrace.
Danni said: “He told my family and best-friend in the hospital cafeteria, where they all cried at the news.
“With only two days to plan, they all got involved, buying decorations and gathering as many people at the house as possible.
“We haven’t had a chance to set a date yet, but we are so excited the spend our lives together as a family.”
