A Cold War missile silo built 40 feet UNDERGROUND in New York is on sale for three million dollars (£2.4M).
The decommissioned Atlas F Missile Silo in Lewis, New York, USA goes 18 storeys down and can withstand natural and man-made disasters such as a nuclear explosion.
With one bedroom, the buyer would live in the Launch Control Center and have the 3,200 square feet main silo to build out.
Covering 8.3 acres, the land is protected by an eight-foot fence for ultimate privacy.
Listing agent Brian Dominic from Select Sotheby’s International Realty, said:”The Atlas F missile silo was built to protect a nuclear bomb from incoming missiles.
“This makes it one of the strongest man made buildings in the world.
“This silo is only one in the world which both main silo blast doors works. The hydraulic rams push up each door weighing 75-110 tons a piece.
“The main silo is 185 feet deep and 52 feet diameter which is big enough to hold the Statue of Liberty.
“The main steel structure is in great shape and with 52f (11c) geothermal heat the next buyer could do whatever they want – examples include a luxury warehouse facility, hydroponics, residential condos, deep sea diving school, monster climbing facility, or data farm.
“All this can be done year round regardless of outdoor conditions.”
