A baby goat born with a single huge eye, one ear and no nose has left villagers baffled in India.
The terrifying goat was born on May 10th in a village in northeastern Indian state of Assam.
It has a rare condition called Cyclopia and vets believed that it will die within few days.
But the ‘kid’ has defied their prediction and is growing fast.
“I was shocked when I saw the goat. I immediately contacted the vets.
“They predicted that the baby goat will die within a few days but he has defied their expectations to live,” said Mukhuri Das, owner of the goat.
Cyclopia occurs during development in the womb when the two hemispheres of the brain do not separate leading to the formation of a single central cavity with one eye or sometimes partially fused or separate eyeballs.
The goat has missing eyelashes and eyelids. The upper and lower lips are unusually small and the upper jaw is short and many of its teeth are absent.
The newly born goat has become a major attraction in the village and every day scores of people visit Das’s home to see the ‘miracle’ goat.
“Not only my neighbours but people from other villages are coming to our place to see the goat. It has made us famous and we are feeling happy about it.
“I believe this goat will bring luck to my home,” he added.
Cyclopia has been reported in other animals, including horses, pigs, cows, cats and even dusky sharks.
