A flamboyant frog was captured striking John Travolta’s iconic pose from 1970’s hit  Saturday Night Fever.

Amateur wildlife photographer Aditya Permana from Tangerang, Indonesia, was visiting a pet shop in his home town to take a look at the animals with a pal.

Aditya sat for an hour with his Nikon D300 and his patience was rewarded when the animated amphibian jumped up and was snapped in the classic Saturday Night Fever stance.

The image shows the feisty frog with one hand pointing to the sky in the same manner as Travolta’s heart-throb Tony Manero, even with his left elbow kinked out and his right knee bent.

Sound engineer Aditya, 35, said: “I enjoy taking pictures of frogs as they’re very cute.

“I didn’t intend to photograph this common [Indonesian] toad – I originally went to look at a red-eyed tree frog.

“I decided to sit and see what this one would do and managed to get this in frame. It’s so funny, he looks like John Travolta or Elvis.

“I’m sure they would be proud of his pose.”

The dad of two said people who had seen the snap online found it funny with some quizzing him as to whether he’d managed to pose the cute critter up.

Aditya said: “I managed to take the picture just as the frog started jumping – it looks really funny.”

He started taking photographs in 2013 to document scenes and animals that caught his interest.
