A baby thinks her name is Alexa in this hilarious video after parents bought an Amazon Echo Dot.
Charlotte Moultrie, 28, asked for advice after posting the hysterical video which shows her 11-month-old daughter ignoring her actual name and only responding when her mother called her Alexa.
Adorable Emily only responds to the name Alexa after her parents, Charlotte and Andy, from Douglas, Isle of Man, bought the Amazon Echo Dot when Emily was just five-months-old and have been using it ever since.
The device, which responds to the name Alexa, has been causing troubles for the parents as they can’t get their daughter to respond to her own name.
Her father, a 26-year-old primary school teacher, has vowed to stop using the device in an attempt to get his daughter to learn her actual name, with the parents joking they may have to change her name on the birth certificate.
Charlotte posted the video on TikTok which raked in an impressive 500,000 views on the popular social media platform.
Emily, who has a big personality, now only responds to the name Alexa and her parents are desperate to find a solution to their problem.
Charlotte said: “Every time you shout her name, she ignores you and then I say Alexa and she looks at me. I was so worried she thought her name was Alexa when it first happened!
“She does it all the time now; if she’s playing in her room or crawling away we can’t get her attention unless we shout Alexa.
“My husband came home from work and said we’re going to have to change the Alexa name to Echo but then we thought she might think her name is Echo!
“Emily’s crazy; she has two crazy parents. She’s a big people person and wants to hug and kiss everyone. She’s a really happy baby but has definitely started throwing temper tantrums.
“I was so shocked by how viral it went. I post silly videos all the time and I thought it was quite funny but I just thought our close friends and family would see it.
“We both got TikTok for a laugh in lockdown. I put my phone away for the night and woke up to thousands of likes.
“I’ve had to turn my notifications off because it’s constantly going!”
Emily will be turning one next month and Charlotte and Andy have begun manually using their Amazon Echo Dot to avoid saying the name.
“My mother in law came in yesterday to look after her and we told her to avoid the Alexa and then she comes in and shouts Alexa.
“We’re going to have to manually use it now and get up every time we want it to do something”.
The couple normally use the popular piece of tech to play their daughter songs and music but are going to have to find an alternative.
“She always looks towards the Amazon Echo Dot because she knows it’s going to play music”.
