With a loved-up couple’s wedding day having to be postponed due to the coronavirus, the groom decided to get creative and throw his soon-to-be-bride a DIY make-shift Covid wedding.
On March 21st 2020, popular YouTuber Dan Mace, 29, tested positive for the coronavirus, and to make matters worse, that was also the day that he and fiancée, Gabi Esterhuizen, 27, were due to be married.
Having to make the difficult decision to postpone their wedding, creative Dan decided to turn the couple’s house in Constania, Cape Town, into a make-shift wedding ceremony.
Secretly spending the entire night before crafting his own alter, a wedding banner and every guest from cardboard, Gabi awoke to a beautiful, DIY Covid lockdown wedding.
With no guests in attendance, and Dan’s friend Jonah acting as a virtual priest through a zoom online chat from Los Angeles, the pair acted out their romantic placeholder wedding day.
Dan said: “Gabi was heart-warmed and surprised.
“Being at home all the time isn’t so easy, but we’re grateful to have a home and the resources that we do have, so no complaints. We’re just worried for the world and hope it ends sooner rather than later.
