This octopus changed colour and shape to camouflage itself on the ocean floor with breath-taking effects.
Marine biologist, Jacinta Shackelton tracked an octopus off the coast of Queensland, Australia and captured the moment it vanished into the coral on February 6.
The sea critter can be seen gliding through the water with a grey appearance before reaching the textured coral.
As the octopus settles in a gap, the colour begins to distort and change to match the area with amazing effect.
Jacinta said: “these animals are able to easily change colour as well as their texture to blend — which is exactly what you can see in this video!
“These animals are masters of disguise so it was actually quite difficult to spot amongst the reef!”
