A skilled musician uses a traditional Belarusian instrument to create beautiful music as well as cover popular current hits.
Even professional musician Evgenia Samokhina, 37, admits that the traditional Belarusian cimbalom was a random instrument to choose.
But since the age of eight, talented Evgenia has played the beautiful sounding instrument, with her love of the cimbalom becoming a full-time profession in her home of Kaliningrad, Russia.
Evgenia said: “It was a random choice. When I was a child, teachers from the art school invited children to study and the teachers played various musical instruments, and I liked the cimbalom the most.
“I still remember the excited feeling I felt when the musical instrument appeared at my home.
“I studied at the Belarusian State Academy of Music in Mogilev. I now chose to play the music that I like, and I like heavier music such as Nirvana, Metalica and Rammstein.
“In the beginning, I was amazed that so many people liked what I did. But I don’t think about popularity, I just do what I like.”
