A blind snake was found struggling in floodwaters after heavy rain engulfed parts of Brisbane, Australia.

Business owner Finn Ellis, 24, picked the snake out of the water before releasing him on higher ground near his home.

He wasn’t scared as he knew blind snakes are harmless to humans.

Finn assumed the animal was washed out of his underground burrow when the flood hit.

He said: “I didn’t know what it was when I picked him up, but I like snakes so I was happy to help him.

“The flood happened after heavy rain for only around an hour.

“It was so fast and unbelievable”.
