Animals Video

By Jack Mobley

The first sighting of a coyote and a badger together in an unlikely partnership has been published online.

A remote camera from Peninsula Open Space Trust in Santa Cruz, California, captured the rare moment as the pair jogged through a wildlife tunnel on February 4.

The coyote seems playful as the badger enters the frame, jumping like an excitable puppy.

The animal then leads the way down the underpass while the badger follows, bouncing along.

Neal Sharma, POST’s Wildlife Linkages Program Manager, said: “This video of the coyote and badger is one of our favourites and it’s clearly captured the hearts of people around the world.”

Studies claim that coyotes and badgers do hunt together to make catching the next kill that much easier but this video is the first footage that has emerged capturing the unexpected duo.
