This is the heartwarming moment a dog was reunited with her owner after going missing for three years.
Pooch Leeann, 12, went missing after her family moved from New York to New Jersey in October of 2016.
Three years later on December 23, 2019, Leeann wound up hundreds of miles away, at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay, Florida, as she was dropped off by a member of the public who found her wandering the streets.
Thanks to a microchip that Leeann’s owner, Veronica Bonilla had installed on the dog, the Humane Society were able to find her contact details and reach out to her on December 26, 2019.
On the same day, Veronica hopped on a plane to Florida to finally be reunited with her beloved dog in a heartwarming moment.
Spokesperson from Humane Society of Tampa Bay, Maria Matlack said: “Veronica was in shock when she heard the news, but after seeing a photo she knew it was her beloved dog.
“She immediately bought a ticket and jumped on a plane to Florida.
“Leeann is doing great back home!”
Veronica said she could not believe her eyes when she received the message from the animal shelter.
Veronica said: “I couldn’t believe it, I took the phone to my husband and I was like, am I reading this right?
“I wish Leeann could talk to me and tell me what happened.”
