A British man has praised a Facebook fan page for cats after posting a photo of himself and his met which led to him meeting the girl of his dreams.

Adam Lawrence, 28, posted a photo of him posing with his furry friend, Doggy,  and was pleasantly surprised to receive a compliment, calling him and the cat ‘cute,’ from an American woman.

With an immediate starting point of conversation, the graphic design graduate messaged Anna Hosey, 25, and the pair continued to speak daily for six weeks.

But after two weeks of FaceTime calls, Adam took the plunge and booked a flight to see the hairdresser in her hometown Chicago, US.

He returned back to London on December 15 and thanks his friends match maker cat for helping him meet Anna.

He said: “I never thought I’d be the kind of guy to travel 4,000 miles to meet someone I met on Facebook, but I don’t regret it at all.-

“It was the first time I ever posted in the group but I have always loved cats and when I seen my friends fluffy cat I couldn’t resist.

“Anna commented saying ‘both very very cute’ and after viewing her profile, I thought I’ll just send her a message.

“We went on to speak every day on Facebook and we really got on.

“After two weeks, she suggested I go to visit her in the states and I had recently lost my job as a graphic designer but still had some savings.

“I don’t think she believed I would, so I did as I thought what have I got to lose?

“I thought if it goes wrong, at least I am ticking another country off the list.

“Thankfully had the best time and it was like we had known each other forever.

“I can’t wait to show Anna all the sights that make London, London.”

The photo received 6.5k likes and over 150 comments – one was from Anna.

The pair ‘hit it off’ immediately and Anna has since booked her first international trip to London in February.

She said: “When I initially proposed the idea of him coming to Chicago – I hoped he would, but I didn’t believe he would.

“But then he showed me the itinerary, I was like ‘oh its happening’ and then every phone call was so exciting because we were counting down the days.

“I was a little bit wary but I was willing to take the small risk and I am so glad I did because we had the best time.

“The whole thing has been surreal but amazing – it wasn’t awkward at all when I picked him up from the airport.

“I felt nervous on the way but as soon as he got in the car they disappeared; it is crazy how we are so in tune with each other.

“We both love cats, music and an adventure!

“He met my friends, parents and most importantly my cat, Kidden and they all loved him.

“My friends were shocked that I have found someone who is as talkative and spontaneous like me.

“I don’t believe it will fizzle out because it has already been two months, and we have never not had anything to say.”
