Up close footage captured the moment a colourful cuttlefish baby hatched from its egg.
Sina Strahl was swimming in the Lembeh Straight off north Indonesia in February, when she noticed some sea-grapes – so name because of their appearance – on the reef below.
Keeping a respectful distance, the scuba diver watched for ten minutes as some of the babies made their way into the world for the first time.
Pushing its way out of the egg sac, one tiny baby swam off into the warm waters, showing off its already vivid yellow and purple colours to the world.
Sina said: “It was amazing to see so close.
“The nest was only about eight metres below the surface of the water, hidden in a coconut shell.
“Once they’d hatched, they just swam off into the current.”
