A group of elderly people appeared to be flicking the middle finger while taking park in a unique meditation.
While the owner of Instagram page Shanghai Observed was strolling through a local park in October when he noticed the group.
Taking a closer look, the pack of pensioners were all taking part in a group meditation and were holding the same pose.
Grinning away, the people all had their middle fingers up in the air and held out in front of him.
The American expat said: “I’m not really sure if they know what the middle finger means in eastern culture, but it was surprising.
“They held it for minutes at a time.
“I couldn’t help thinking ‘do they know what it means’.”
