A cat and rat have struck up an unlikely friendship – after the rodent was rescued from being snake food.
Prudence the cat took special care of Cooper the rat by licking his head, cuddling it and holding it close.
The two appear inseparable, with the alley cat having also been rescued, three years prior after she was found abandoned as a kitten.
Pauline Morin, 55, from Maine, USA, said, “I found Cooper, the dumbo rat, in the pet store about to be fed to snakes.
“I bought the whole feeder bin and they all live with me now.
“Prudence and Cooper took to each other right away, with Prudence liking to lick everyone and everything.
“The two of them would lay around all day, after Cooper came out of his cage and went over to her.”
