A hero holidaymaker saved the day when he stepped up to fly his family and the rest of the plane on a delayed flight.
You’ve worked hard all year, you’ve packed your bag, got your passport in hand and you’re on your way to a sun-drenched holiday abroad, what could go wrong?
Well for Michelle Hannah Potts and her fellow passengers eagerly waiting to leave Manchester Airport for sunny Alicante, Spain, on September 1, delayed flight was missing a pilot, resulting in their aircraft being grounded for more than two hours.
But luckily for the passengers, a hero sat amongst them, as qualified easyJet pilot Michael Bradley, who had brought his license and ID to the airport after being made aware of potential delays, volunteered to fly the plane to its destination.
Heading to the front of the plane, casually dressed Michael took to the tannoy to reveal he would be willing to fly the plane in order to get himself, his family and the rest of the passengers to their sunny paradise, resulting in joyous cheers and clapping from the surprised vessel.
Relieved passenger Michelle said: “It could only happen to me! We got to the airport and our flight was delayed a couple of hours.
“The guy at the boarding desk said, ‘your pilot’s gone missing but a guy that’s going on your flight is going to fly the plane’.
“Luckily the guy was actually a pilot! The flight probably would have been cancelled if it wasn’t for him. Legend!”
