These amazing pictures capture the moment wild horses are seen galloping through the blue lagoons.

Photographer Mirko Pieruccioni used a drone to catch the magical images of the grey horses, famed in the wetlands of Saintes Marie de la Me, France.

The 38-year-old, who organises workshops and photo tours in the region, wanted to express the beauty of the animals as they ran through the lagoon.

He said: “My favourite pictures are those where the horses are sideways shot, because these highlight their power while running in the shallow waters of  the lagoon, surrounded by the beautiful colours of the water.”

There is no denying the unusual view point of the images is eye catching, so we asked Mirko what his thought process was behind the exquisite shots.

“I was very focused on my ideas, wishful to express the beauty of these wonderful animals and to share their elegance.”

“My desire was to give a new and unusual point of view, not yet captured, allowing whoever sees my images to better understand the show that nature can give us.”

“I am very happy with the pictures I have shot, reaching the goal I set for myself, namely, to give a new perspective to high-impact scenes.”

Mirko also talked about a few future projects he has planned.

He added: “As well as taking photos, I am also part focused on making videos. My intention is to create a photo and video multimedia presentation that can convey all the beauty of nature that surrounds the Camargue area in France.”
